38 Preface وَعادًا وَثَمودَ وَقَد تَبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِن مَساكِنِهِم ۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيطانُ أَعمالَهُم فَصَدَّهُم عَنِ السَّبيلِ وَكانوا مُستَبصِرينَAli Quli QaraiAnd ʿĀd and Thamūd, [whose fate] is evident to you from their habitations. Satan made their deeds seem decorous to them, thus he barred them from the way [of Allah], though they used to be perceptive.1 That is, they let themselves be deceived by Satan despite their God-given ability to discern between good and evil.
