72 Preface وَقالَت طائِفَةٌ مِن أَهلِ الكِتابِ آمِنوا بِالَّذي أُنزِلَ عَلَى الَّذينَ آمَنوا وَجهَ النَّهارِ وَاكفُروا آخِرَهُ لَعَلَّهُم يَرجِعونَYusuf AliA section of the People of the Book say: “Believe in the morning1 what is revealed to the believers, but reject it at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves) Turn back;Wajh here has the sense of “beginning”, “early part”. The cynics who plotted against Islam actually asked their accomplices to join the believers and then repudiate them.
