Preface

۞ يا أَيُّهَا الرَّسولُ بَلِّغ ما أُنزِلَ إِلَيكَ مِن رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِن لَم تَفعَل فَما بَلَّغتَ رِسالَتَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعصِمُكَ مِنَ النّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَهدِي القَومَ الكافِرينَ

Yusuf Ali

O Messenger. proclaim the (message) which hath been sent to thee from thy Lord.¹ If thou didst not, thou wouldst not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. And God will defend thee from men (who mean mischief). For God guideth not those who reject Faith.

Muḥammad had many difficulties to contend with, many enemies and dangers to avoid. This is to assure him that his Message was true and from God. His mission must be fulfilled. And he must-as he did-go forward and proclaim that Message and fulfil his mission, trusting God for protection, and unconcerned if people who had lost all sense of right rejected it or threatened him.
